Vestnik was launched by SRAS in 2004 as one of the world’s first online academic journals focused on showcasing student research. We welcome and invite papers written by undergraduates, graduates, and postgraduates. Research on any subject related to the broad geographic area outlined above is accepted. If you have written solid research eligible for publication according to the guidelines listed here, please submit it.
In this, its thirteenth issue, Vestnik brings you a wide range of articles on diverse subjects. Two articles focus on literature. Dueling as a Commentary on Gambling and Risk Taking provides original analysis of Pushkin and Turgenev’s use of the duel in their stories. The Meek One: A Rebellious Reading analyzes one of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s lesser known works.
Two others look at modern issues in the post-Soviet space. Creating a Dam National Space explores the Socialist-Realist-inspired promotion of the Roghun Dam in Tajikistan while Russia’s Forest Sector and International Trade in Forest Products analyzses Russia’s forestry sector, especially as it relates to China and the WTO.
Our last entry, A Vision and a Guiding Light in an Age of Disunity looks at the life of Theodosius in the 11 Century and how it contributed to realizing the vision of Vladimir I.
