The Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) is generally acknowledged as being the successor of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU), which had ruled the USSR until 1991.

| Шаг 1. Связаться с одним из первичных партийных отделений (первичек) того субъекта РФ, в котором Вы постоянно или преимущественно проживаете. | Step 1: Get in touch with one of the primary party branches in the region in which you permanently or predominantly reside. |
| Шаг 2. Начать партийную работу в первичке: получать и выполнять партийные поручения, участвовать в мероприятиях, проводимых партией. | Step 2: Start doing party work in that branch: receive and carry out instructions, and take part in events held by the party. |
| Шаг 3. После того, как Вы станете частью коллектива первички, зарекомендуете себя как активного борца за наше дело, Вы подаёте письменное заявление на вступление в партию и заполняете анкету. Обычно период «знакомства» с первичкой и «вливания» в её коллектив занимает 2-3 месяца. | Step 3: After you have become a part of the branch team and proven yourself as an active fighter for our cause, you may submit a written request for party membership and fill out an application. Usually this “introduction” to the branch and “embedding” into the team will take 2-3 months. |

Двое коммунистов с партийным стажем не менее года, которые к моменту подачи Вами заявления уже знают Вас как активиста, пишут на Вас рекомендации. | Step 4: Two Communists who have been members for no less than a year, and who, as of the moment of your application, know you as an activist, must write letters of recommendation for you. |
| Шаг 5. На собрании первичного партийного отделения происходит голосование по Вашей кандидатуре. Затем решение о приёме в КПРФ утверждает районный комитет партии. После этого Вы становитесь полноправным коммунистом. | Step 5: A vote on your candidacy for membership will be held during a meeting of the primary party branch. Then, the regional party committee must approve the decision. After this, you will become a full member of the Communist Party. |
| Шаг 6. Партийный билет вручается после утверждения районным комитетом КПРФ Вашего приёма в партию. Часто это происходит в торжественной обстановке, на массовых мероприятиях, проводимых партией. | Step 6: You will be given your membership card after the regional party committee approves your entry to the party. Often this takes place in a ceremony in a mass event held by the party. |

| 5. Распространять агитационные материалы партии. | 5. Distribute the party’s political literature. |
| 6. Наблюдать на избирательном участке в день выборов. | 6. Monitor the polling station on election day. |
| 7. Привлекать в партию новые кадры. | 7. Recruit new members to the party. |
| 8. Вести иную партийную работу, которая будет поручена Вам в зависимости от Ваших интересов, склонностей, знаний и умений. | 8. Carry out any party work that will be assigned to you according to your interests, likings, knowledge, and abilities. |
